Police issue advice to make sure your house number is visible for 999 calls

POLICE gave residents a top tip to make sure they can be reached in an emergency.

Market Bosworth Police asked people to make sure their house number is visible and can be seen when it’s dark.

The force said on its Facebook page: “If we are heading to your house in an emergency - it’s so important that we can see your house number easily - especially at night.

“You probably know where you live - but we might not.

“Take a minute to review your house number please.”

Officers said in the post that they had dealt with 454 incidents in November, including domestic burglaries in Twycross, Orton on the Hill, Norton Juxta Twycross, Sheepy Magna, Higham on the Hill, Stoke Golding, Sutton Cheney, Bagworth and Ratby.

Thefts in late November included a range of 11 bespoke bicycles taken in Sutton Cheney and £2,000 worth of charcuteri­e and other goods stolen from a farm shop in Shenton.

There were two burglaries Groby and in Markfield.

Burglaries of sheds, work premises, pubs, garages and outbuildin­gs included three in Newbold Verdon, with similar incidents in Shenton, in Market Bosworth, Stapleton, Carlton, Barlestone, Bagworth and Ratby.

There was a vehicle crime and a reported robbery in Markfield and two stop and searches took place in Ratby.

The force said: “The incidents called in to police vary from people reporting crimes, collisions, missing people and informatio­n, to others calling us about loose horses, sleeping cows, Facebook hacking, domestic incidents, neighbour issues, sudden deaths, cattle transporta­tion complaints, protests and thefts of wheelie bins.”
