Chocolate tasting experience for WI members
THE ladies from Earl Shilton’s Womens Institute enjoyed a full chocolate tasting experience with a talk and demonstrations by chocolatier Tom Phillips during their December meeting.
Tom demonstrated how cocoa pods and oil are mixed to make dark chocolate solids and informed the ladies of the pink cocoa pod which is now being used to make pink chocolate.
After heating the mixture, he then went on to produce chocolate snowmen among other shapes, aswell as trays of dark and white chocolates with a luxurious hazelnut praline filling.
The array of chocolates were thoroughly enjoyed by the ladies who afterwards tucked in to sample nibbles, coffee and mince pies. The following evening several ladies attended the Highcross Group Carol service where they enjoyed poems, readings and carols.
The next meeting will be held on Monday January 7 at the Pelican Centre in Earl Shilton and new members will be welcome to attend. Guest speaker will be Julia Wallis exploring Honey Bees.
