Young operatic voices to join in fun at festival
A HOST of young operatic voices will be in action for Hinckley Opera Festival 2019.
The festival will include six upcoming talents performing at informal lunchtime concerts at St Mary’s Church
Michael Dewis, artistic director for the festival, said: “I’ve been fortunate to have sung with them all and their sheer talent and epic voices mark them out as the best of their generation.
“They all combine incredible vocal skills with astonishing artistry and personality.
“This is their chance to show their art, and let their hair down in a relaxed and intimate setting.
“Glorious high notes, rich timbres and staggeringly beautiful tones. Do NOT miss these concerts.”
The lunchtime concerts will run from April 8 to 13.
Ukrainian lyric soprano Anastasiia Golovina and pianist Maja Igralina will perform at the first recital.
Ms Golovina studied at music school and college in her home town in Ukraine and moved to London to study at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
She has performed across the UK, Italy, Spain, Ukraine, Russia, Thailand, Singapore and Netherlands, including her recent debut performance at Wigmore Hall.
Despite performing regularly as an operatic and oratorio soloist Anastasiia has also been performing in song recitals.
More information about her background is available on her website. Performing on April 12 is tenor Ben Thapa and pianist Laurie O’Brien. Mr Thapa began his career as one quarter of the classical crossover quartet G4, runners up on the first series of the X Factor in 2004.
After five albums and several years of touring the UK and abroad, he left the group earlier this year and as a soloist he runs a busy diary on opera and concert stages across the UK and abroad.
More information about Mr Thapa is available on his website.
