Crash on Monday afternoon involved a car and van
A WOMAN aged 19 has died in a crash involving two vehicles.
Police were called to the incident in Station Road near Stoney Stanton on Monday afternoon.
The woman, whose name has not been released, was killed when her blue Fiat 500 was involved in a collision with a van in Station Road, between Stoney Stanton and Elmesthorpe, shortly after 12pm on Monday.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, Leicestershire Police said.
The driver of the Citroen Nemo panel van was taken to University Hospital in Coventry with what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Station Road was closed while officers carried out an investigation of the scene. It has since reopened.
Detective Constable Beth Pick, of the serious collision investigation unit, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area and assisted at the scene.
“If you saw either of the vehicles being driven beforehand or the collision itself or have any dashcam that captured the incident we’d like to hear from you.”
“If you have any information that could help with our enquiries and have not yet spoken to officers we urge you to get in contact.” Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Con Pick on 101.
