TV and radio presenter to be speaker at event
FORMER BBC Breakfast anchor and Classic FM presenter Bill Turnbull has been announced as the guest speaker at Loros Hospice’s annual Ladies’ Lunch in May.
The journalist and broadcaster will entertain more than 600 guests at the event, at the King Power Stadium, on May 22.
Loros president Jennifer, Lady Gretton, is hosting the event, which includes a threecourse meal, raffle and a selection of stalls.
Bill, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in November, has talked recently about his experiences of living with terminal cancer, describing it as “so relentlessly boring”.
He said: “You go to bed at night thinking about it and it’s still there when you wake up. It’s there all day, every day – a fact of life you have to get used to.
“That’s why the work Loros does supporting people and their families when they’re at their lowest is so valuable. I’m proud to be able to support it.”
Loros fund-raising manager Laura Betts said: “Our Ladies’ Lunch is always really popular and sells out very quickly. This year will be no exception.
“We’re delighted to welcome Bill Turnbull to entertain us, who has a long and illustrious career in journalism as well as broadcasting and a memorable turn on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, too.
“It will be a really special event.”
