Community funds up for grabs

-

RECOGNISING the extensive work local groups put into organising community events and activities, Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council has made available two funds; the Community Transport Fund and the new Community Volunteers Fund to apply for.

The Community Transport Fund is available if you are organising an event and may consider arranging community transport to enable other people to attend.

A one-off grant could pay for you to arrange a mini bus to pick up people from nearby, making your event special for even more people.

Your group will be responsible for organising your required transport, and you must use a form of community transport such as Hinckley and Bosworth Community Transport, Dial a Ride, Age UK, volunteer drives, Good Neighbour Scheme etc.

Applications of up to £500 are invit- ed from voluntary and community groups from within the borough.

Please note this funding must be allocated by March 2019, so please apply as soon as possible.

The council has also made available a new Community Volunteers Fund aimed at small groups of volunteers or individuals to support their volunteering activities, who can apply for up to £250.

You do not have to be a constituted group.

Council Leader Cllr Mike Hall said “These two funds are important additions to the support that we provide to the voluntary and community sector. The ability for groups to use community transport will enable more people who may be isolated to get involved in community activities.

“The new Community Volunteers Fund could be used by groups who want to undertake a single community project, or those who wish to start up a new group in their area and need some initial funding to make that happen.

“Among other things I would like to see young people taking the opportunity to use this fund as a way to start new projects and to get involved in volunteering in their communities.”

To request an application form please contact Next Generation on 01455 632984 or email vcsinfo@nxtgen.org.uk. Please note you can apply for both funds.
