Santa makes an important delivery

-

SANTA helped to make an important delivery to Hinckley just before Christmas.

A sleigh-full of Lego was delivered to The Dorothy Goodman School as part of their major project launched throughout the summer by the Rotary Club of Market Bosworth.

The Hinckley school uses Lego to aid its student’s development and the Rotary Club have been campaigning for residents across the Borough to donate new and used Lego to help with pupil learning.

Drop-off points were set up in Market Bosworth and Hinckley for donations to be dropped off before they were taken to be used in the school’s 30-minute weekly Lego Club sessions.

Club leader, Joanne Waring, explains: “Lego is used here in a very structured way, helping students develop a whole range of proficiencies. They learn to improve their motor skills, to be patient, to persevere and most importantly, to communicate.

“Simple things, such as asking for help or simply being quiet - the things that most of us take for granted - actually have to be learned. Working with Lego in a systematic manner goes a long way to helping achieve this.”

The Rotary Club of Market Bosworth would like to thank everyone who donated to the Lego appeal and to Thyme Cafe, Michaelmas House and St Mary’s Church for allowing them to use their premises as drop-off points.
