Special festive party thrown for a good cause

-

CHRISTMAS arrived early for Hinckley Mencap with a party organised by volunteers from Hinckley and Rugby Building Society.

Thirteen colleagues from the Society threw the party for Mencap’s Thursday club with a buffet, Christmas bingo, Santa visit and Christmas carol sing-along.

More than 20 guests and helpers from the local charity enjoyed the evening which was organised by assistant development manager, Jess Grewcock.

“The members and volunteers had a really fun evening and everybody got involved in the games. The Christmas carols were sung by everyone, which was the perfect ending to a perfect night,” says Jess.

“It was a pleasure to be the team lead- er for this year’s Mencap festive challenge.

“We are very lucky to be able to put on this Christmas party, it was nice to see everybody enjoying themselves and getting into the Christmas spirit.”

Kelly Emery, society secretary at Hinckley and District Mencap, said: “This is the third year running Hinckley and Rugby has thrown our Thursday club a party and each and every year has been absolutely brilliant.

“We cannot thank them enough. Our members were thrilled when I was able to confirm that they were coming back again this year and they did not disappoint.

“Our members had an absolutely fabulous time. Thanks, from all of us at Hinckley Mencap.”
