Parking issue gets big response

-

A POLICE warning about parking had a lot of responses from drivers.

Market Bosworth Police said in a post on its Facebook page that this can be an issue around school time.

It said: “Please don’t be offended if we ask you to find alternate parking if you are causing an obstruction around school time.

“It is discretional how we deal with this. It doesn’t matter if you are sat in the car or whether your engine is on.

“We are paid to challenge poor vehicle positioning. It is your children that we are concerned about.”

The post had more than 30 comments and was shared over 20 times.

The force asked that people would be compliant when they are asked to move.

It said: “If you want to argue, thats your choice, however we tend not to challenge good decision making, and yes, we do have better things to do.

“We would much prefer at this time of the year to take the option not involving a pen.”

Councillor Ozzy O’Shea, who represents Groby and Ratby division on Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, commented: “Extremely bad around Groby Community College.

“I have asked for your good services on several occasions due to inconsiderate and dangerous parking. Thank you for your support but it continues.”

The force responded to a number of the comments, including one saying there are often no places to park near to schools.

It said in response: “We could suggest scores of places within a couple of minutes walk from the school.

“It’s not down to the Police to suggest parking spaces, that are abundant, for everyone.

“People have grown to maturity, learned to drive, read the highway code and then choose to ignore it.”
