We need an extra lane under the bridge instead of pavement

-

AFTER reading the plans for the Rugby Road/Southfield Road/Westfield Road and Brookside junctions I am quite happy to state that whoever came up with these ideas does not understand the problems.

Why would anyone want to make another bottleneck going out of Hinckley and up to Sketchley Hill? There is nothing wrong with that junction it is the one further down that causes problems.

To sort out the Hub junction you need to do things. For a start change the lanes directly outside of the Hub. You should have the left hand lane for turning left and for straight on to keep traffic flowing and the right lane for just turning right.

The part opposite Lidl does need an extra filter lane for traffic turning left but other than that it is fine. The Westfield side is fine as is. And now the boggy. Under the bridge we need to lose one side of the pavement. With one of those gone (we’ll say The Hansom Cab/Westfield Road side) you could add railings or a much higher kerb to stop anything crashing into it. Remove the pavement and that silly cobbled area and put the extra lane that’s needed in its place. On the pavement on the opposite side there should be railings along side the path and the when you actually get to the junction an extra crossing should be added.

Oh and let a car showroom take over the old Lidl shop when it moves as its a perfect place for one. Chris Tonks
