Thanks to generosity of people in borough

-

I would like to express sincere thanks on behalf of Hinckley Salvation Army for the generosity of the people of this borough and the overwhelming support we have received in recent days, especially over the Christmas period.

Donations of clothing, toys, gifts and money have all been very much appreciated and have enabled us to meet many of the needs of families and individuals who came looking for our help.

The Community Kitchen launched in November has become the safe place that we wanted it to be for those looking for company, friendship and a hot meal. The Wednesday before Christmas was a lovely occasion as the whole ‘family’ sat down to a festive meal with all the trimmings and with each of our guests going home with gifts too to open on Christmas Day.

I want to thank all of our amazing volunteers who have worked so hard over this peri- od – and especially those who worked on Christmas Day; cooking or serving meals; providing transport or offering general care to those who joined us for lunch and an afternoon of fun and entertainment.

81 people enjoyed the day together, many of whom would have otherwise spent the day alone.

Once again everyone went away with gifts and other prizes that they had won as part of the games, as well as a packed tea to enjoy once they were settled back at home.

It has been our joy to pass on the kindness shown by the people of Hinckley and to see the delight of those who have been helped and been made to feel cared for in these days. May God bless all who have played a part in any way!

We at The Salvation Army wish everyone a happy and peaceful 2019. Major Carol Evans, Hinckley Salvation
