Society helps out homeless group with time and food
EARL Shilton building society has joined forces with a charity committed to improving the lives of those affected by homelessness in a bid to tackle the issue on a local scale.
Leicester-based Action Homeless, dedicates its efforts to improving the lives of those affected by homelessness and has pledged its support to families across the county for the past 40 years.
Throughout 2018, ESBS planned to support Action Homeless’ work through foodbank donations, as well as staff volunteering at the charity’s Food Stop shop.
Looking into 2019, the building society will participate in the charity’s Easter Food Drive and a summer fundraiser to support activities at Bridge House, the charity’s women’s refuge.
Paul Tilley, Chief Executive of Esbs, said: “Our society was originally set up with the purpose of providing homes. We are deeply upset about the current, growing level of homelessness and we aim to assist the valuable work carried out by Action Homeless to address this by making the organisation our longterm charity partner.
“The work that they do has already bettered the lives of countless people affected by homelessness and we are excited to announce this partnership, which we hope will help many more to get into full-time accommodation.”
Mark Grant, Chief Executive of Action Homeless, said: “As a local charity, the support of our commu- nity is very important to us. Partnering with ESBS will allow us to engage with the Leicestershire community in a new way and raise vital awareness of why homelessness happens and how people can help.
“Furthermore, the funds raised, donations collected and time given will all make a difference as we look to tackle the causes and consequences of homelessness in Leicester.”
