Leicester, June 11-15. Rock of Ages is an LA love story including more than 25 classic rock anthems, such as Don’t Stop Believin’, We Built This City, The Final Countdown, and I Want to Know What Love Is, played loud and proud by a live band. Cast includes Strictly Come Dancing champion Kevin Clift- on as Stacee Jaxx and Kevin Kennedy (Curly from Coronation Street) as Dennis. Tickets from £27.50.

Foxton, Sat, Jun 15 and Sun, Jun 16. This annual festival provides a brilliant family day out, with a fun fair, arena displays, craft fair, live music, fantastic canal boats, and even a fun dog show. £8 per adult per day, accompanie­d children free.

De Montfort Hall, Leicester, July 5-7. Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s much-loved Zog comes to life in this magical adaptation, featuring live musicians. From the team behind Tiddler and Other Terrific Tales and Tabby McTat, Zog promises to be roaring fun for all ages. Tickets £16.

Leicester Racecouse, Sat, July 6. Enjoy an action-packed day of racing, followed by live music from Will Young. The Pop Idol 2002 winner has had huge hits including Evergreen, Leave Right Now and All Time Love. Tickets £35.

Kilworth House Theatre, North Kilworth, July 23-Sept 1. Based on TS Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, with a magnificen­t musical score composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, this is a ground-breaking musical that comes together in a sparkling fusion of music, dance and verse and includes poignant hit song Memory. Tickets from £36.

Melton Livestock Market, Sat, July 27 and Sun, July 28. This huge celebratio­n of pies gives you the opportunit­y to sample and buy a whole range of pies, from the traditiona­l Melton Mowbray pork pie to more outlandish creations. Expect sweet and savoury, hot and cold, meaty and vegan offerings at the event, which is attended by pie-makers from across the UK. PieFest also features talks, tastings, demonstrat­ions and workshops, plus an assortment of other food and drink. Ticket prices yet to be announced. Cattows Farm, Heather, Aug 30-Sept 1. Time to get nostalgic at this fantastic festival, organised by James Dean Events, which takes you back to the 1980s and 90s. You’ll have the chance to see some of your favourite pop groups and artists from the era, including Vengaboys, Tony Hadley (ex-Spandau Ballet), B*Witched, East 17, 911 and S Club Party (formerly S Club 7) on the main stage, and the likes of DJ Sammy and Sash! in the dance tent. Curve, Leicester, Nov 23-Jan 11, 2020. One of the greatest musicals of all time, filled with romance, charm, aggression and heartbreak. Tickets £10-£49.50.
