Staff pick up annual awards for town society
Winners were those who went extra mile
HINCKLEY and Rugby Building Society’s annual staff award has been won by its IT team and mortgage customer services manager who have worked hard together to keep customers’ data safe.
Sarah Johnson from the mortgage department and the IT team, led by Michael Sharpe, were jointly crowned the winner of Hinckley and Rugby’s annual prize for its most outstanding members of staff.
The team and Sarah were presented with the Jeanette Lewis FAB award at a staff gathering in Hinckley.
The trophy was first awarded in 2012 in memory of a much-missed former colleague.
Over the last 12 months, more than 30 nominations were made for the awards, given to team members who have gone the extra mile to help customers, colleagues and the community.
With the help of her colleagues, Sarah worked alongside Michael’s team to further develop the Society’s defences against the many and varied digital challenges which continue to test all financial service providers.
Sarah said: “We are all resolute in wanting to protect our customers from all potential risks and it has been very rewarding to work so closely with our wonderful IT team on this major project.
“To win this award is lovely recognition for our combined efforts.”
The award for the 2018 Volunteer of the Year went to Denise Bradshaw, executive assistant to the chief executive who is also well known for her previous roles managing branches including Hinckley’s.
Hinckley and Rugby Society’s new chief executive, Colin Fyfe, updated the 100-plus staff members on their achievements in 2018 and its plans for the future.
Colin said: “It was lovely to see all the staff together. It is a real privilege to take over as chief executive as we start a new chapter.
“Everyone I have met has made me so welcome.
“The way everyone treats their colleagues and our members really shines through.”
