A performanc­e of Sing, Sing, Swing will feature at the Concordia theatre for one night only in April 2019.

The show will commence on Sunday April 14 from 7pm.

My Fair Lady, Concordia Theatre An adaptation of the famous motion picture My Fair Lady is coming to the Concordia theatre.

Telling the story of Eliza and her journey from the gutter, the production follows her movement to new upper-class social circles proving that naturally she may be the fairest lady of them all.

With lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe, My Fair Lady contains some of the best loved songs in musical theatre including ‘Wouldn’t it be Lovely’, ‘The Rain in Spain’, ‘I Could Have Danced all Night’ and ‘Get me to Church on Time’.

Performanc­es will take place from Tuesday May 7 to Saturday May 18, every evening from 7.30pm.

Ticket prices vary on the day of the performanc­e but can be purchased online from the theatre website as of Saturday February 16.

Burbage Common Open Day,

Burbage Common From 10.30am till 4.30pm on Sunday May 12, Burbage Common will host its 25th annual countrysid­e open day.

There will be workshops, demonstrat­ions, stalls, Morris dancers, Maypole dancing, animals, outdoor activities and lots more for the family to enjoy.

Classic Vehicle Meet, Hinckley

Market Place The first Hinckley BID Classic Vehicle meet of 2019 is returning by popular demand.

Anyone with a classic vehicle of any kind who would like to take part in the event on Thursday May 16 are welcome to attend.

This year’s entrance will be from Station Road and the event is free to enter.

Love Your Local Market, Hinckley An event organised by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council to celebrate the national Love Your Local Market fortnight is taking place in Hinckley this May.

The day will comprise of traditiona­l Punch and Judy performanc­es, free face painting, a stilt-walker and juggling as well as Hinckley District Past and Present market memories photo display, music from Fosse 107 and more.

Attendees will also receive a free specially designed Hinckley Market cotton bag with all purchases over £3 from any of the trading market stalls.

The event will be taking place on Saturday May 18 from 10am.

The Girl From Tiger Bay, Concor

dia Theatre Join the Concordia for a unique storytelli­ng of Dame Shirley Bassey’s rise to stardom and her long fought career spanning 65 years.

The Girl from Tiger Bay features dancers, replica costumes and a saxophonis­t who will put together a live performanc­e of narrative and footage to create a musical show.

The rags to riches tale will take the audience on the adventure taken by the star from Cardiff’s Tiger Bay to the glitz and glamour of Monte Carlo Bay.

Joanne Copeman will continue her role as Internatio­nal tribute artist and vocal impersonat­or bringing her 26 years of experience to Hinckley.

For one night only you can see the performanc­e on Sunday May 19 from 7pm.

Margot Fonteyn, Concordia Theatre In May 2019 the Concordia theatre will celebrate the life and achievemen­ts of ballet dancer Margot Fonteyn. The production will give an insight into her career with highlights from her most iconic performanc­es including Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty and Giselle.

Set to a classical score, the Concordia is inviting audiences to honour the British dancer featuring renowned dancers of Ballet Theatre UK.

Tickets cost £16 for adults and £12 for under 12s and will be available for public sale from Saturday February 16.

The centenary celebratio­n will take place on Thursday May 23 at 7.30pm.

All England Dance Festival,

Concordia Theatre The bi-annual event of the All England Dance Competitio­n is coming to Hinckley’s Concordia from Saturday May 25 to Sunday June 2.

The competitio­n, affiliated to the British and Internatio­nal Federation of Festivals is a competitiv­e Festival of Theatre Dance for amateurs, children and students of theatre arts.

Market Bosworth Festival, Market

Bosworth. Market Bosworth Festival is a registered charity run by a group of local people with a passion for arts.

Each year a series of events are put on in and around Market Bosworth and Leicesters­hire to support and celebrate arts in a variety of forms; music, film, theatre, literature, lectures and visual arts and crafts.

The festival will be taking place from Friday June 7 to Sunday June 23

Plant Hunters Fair, Bosworth Battlefiel­d Heritage Centre and

Country Park The Bosworth Battlefiel­d Heritage Centre and Country Park will be hosting the Plant Hunters Fair this summer.

From 10am till 4pm on Saturday June 8 visitors to the event will be able to enjoy the rural area and walk the 2.2km Battlefiel­d trail with panoramic views over the landscape.

There will also be an opportunit­y to take part in a five mile walk taking in the sights of Sutton Cheney, Sutton Wharf and Bosworth Battlefiel­d while The Tithe Barn restaurant is on hand to provide hearty meals and light lunches inside the historic barn.

Alluring Plants, Conquest Plants Nursery, Plantwild and Stannard Plants are amongst the dozen entries who have confirmed their attendance to this year’s fair.

Mallory The 18th annual Mallory Mile kick starts National bike week on Monday June 10, which aims to promote cycling for everyone as part of everyday life.

From 6pm till 8pm will be the perfect opportunit­y for you to bring along your friends for an evening of cycling fun and entertainm­ent.

90s Popstars, Concordia Theatre It is boyband versus girlband in a brand new musical Popstars which will be coming to Hinckley’s Concordia this summer.

The musical will be set in the 1990s where Mark is head over heels in love with his girlfriend Shannon Van de Witt, however when she learns that pop-band impresario Simon Austin is the surprise judge at the State Talent Show, she dumps him for her chance at showbiz stardom.

Packed with pop hits from the nineties by artists such as The Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, N*Sync, Britney Spears and Mariah Carey the performanc­e promises to have you reminiscin­g of the good old times.

The first performanc­e will be on Tuesday June 18 continuing throughout the week until Saturday June 22.

Tickets cost £14 with concession­s at £12 for the Tuesday performanc­e, a special discount for group bookings of 10 people or more will also be available at £12.

Snapdragon Children and Family

Festival, Argents Mead The Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council’s Snapdragon Children and Family Festival returns in 2019 with a fun filled week with different themes everyday.

Themed daily activities are due to be announced and all of which will either be free or at a low cost.

Visitors will also see the return of the giant sandpit, sponsored by Hinckley BID.

The events will run from 11am till 3pm each day from Monday August 5 to Friday August 9.

Feast Hinckley 2019, Argents

Mead Hinckley The 2019 Feast Hinckley will take over Argents Mead on the weekend of Saturday August 10 and Sunday August 11.

The free entry festival will feature around 50 food and drink vendors as well as four live bands, a giant inflatable assault course, bungee trampoline­s, music from Fosse 107, entertainm­ent and more.

The family event will be taking place from 10am

Bosworth Medieval Festival, Bosworth Battlefiel­d Heritage

Centre and Country Park Join volunteers and staff as they take part in the annual Bosworth Medieval Festival this year.

Previous visitors have labelled the event as an excellent family day out, stating: “We really enjoyed the excellent facilities.

“Thank you to all the volunteers and people making this event thoroughly entertaini­ng and a great history lesson for all ages.”

The event will take place on the weekend of Saturday August 17 and Sunday August 18 from 10am till 5.30pm. Further informatio­n will be announced via the website.

Spooktacul­ar Saturday, Hinckley The Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council’s Spooktacul­ar Saturday will return on Saturday October 26.

This free event includes pumpkin bowling, face painting, Fosse 107, scary Stilt-walker, best dressed competitio­ns, best carved pumpkin and more for the whole family to enjoy.
