Conservation events for youngsters at Twycross

-

PARENTS with pre-schoolers are being invited to Twycross to enjoy talks on conservation designed to inspire the zoo’s youngest visitors.

Twycross Zoo’s new Toddler Talks focus on the importance of conservation and have been designed to engage those under the age of five years on important topics.

Both chimpanzee and tiger Toddler Talks give an insight into conservation alongside fun activities to captivate little ones, showing that even at a young age we can all make our mark and look after our planet.

Talks will take place every Monday to Friday at 11am for Sumatran tigers and 2:30pm for chimpanzees. The talks will run until September 30 and all participating toddlers will be awarded with a special sticker.

Meanwhile, thanks to the midland zoo’s new adult and toddler offer, one adult and up to two under fives can gain entry to Twycross Zoo for just £15.

Matyas Liptovszky, head of life sciences at Twycross Zoo, said: “As a conservation charity part of our vision is to educate and inspire the next generation about the endangered species that live on our planet, and how zoo’s and conservation organisations like us at Twycross Zoo work to preserve species from extinction.

“Our experienced Discovery & Learning Team educate school groups throughout the year and with our new adult and toddler offer, available through September, we thought what better time to trial new talks for our youngest visitors.”

During a day out at Twycross Zoo, visitors can say hello to over 500 animals from 125 different species, including the zoo’s most recent residents, critically endangered Sumatran tigers, Jahly and Sialang, and Nandi rhino.

Little ones can get up close with animals, with family favourite activities like feeding the lorikeets, petting the goats, walking with lemurs and exploring the tropical Butterfly Forest.

As well as seeing some of the most endangered species on the planet, visitors can take a break with a hot drink from Costa or lunch at The View Restaurant, both overlooking the Snow leopard habitat, whilst little ‘monkeys’ have lots of fun in the giant, indoor soft play jungle.

Twycross Zoo relies on the generosity of its visitors to support its conservation work. For more information and to book tickets visit www.twycrosszoo. org/adult-toddler-ticket/. the Eastern black
