Win and a loss for Hinckley RFC teams

-

HINCKLEY RFC U14s v Paviors RFC U14s.

Off the back of a strong win at home against Market Bosworth in the cup, Hinckley travelled to an organised Paviors side for a tough battle in blustery conditions. Paviors started the stronger, right from the whistle putting pressure on the defence and making Hinckley work hard with the ball. This pressure told with an early score and a easy kick, 7-0.

Hinckley showed good fight as they started to get into the game only for a well worked set piece move to unlock the defence a second time, 14-0. This prompted an excellent response from the Hinckley team as they started to go through some concerted phases and put pressure on Paviours with a prolonged period of attacking possession. Some excellent continuity play from the forwards eventually created the space for the backs to move the ball, with good lines and quick hands for winger Sam Stockton to dot down out wide - a great team try and Hinckley back in the game at half time, 14-5.

Paviors again started strongly In the second half taking advantage of some poor tackling and lapses in concentration to score two tries in succession, both converted to stretch out to a 23 point lead. Although Hinckley battled hard they were never able to get a foot hold in the second half enough to wrestle the game back, often finding themselves pinned within there own 22 for prolonged periods of time. Paviors sealed the win with an unconverted try taking the final score to, 33-5.

Overall, lots of effort from the Hinckley boys to stay in the fight but plenty to work on in the coming weeks as Hinckley look to get their strong start to the season back on track.

Hinckley RFC U15s v South Leicester RFC U15s

Following on from last weeks success in the first round of the County Cup, Hinckley U15s hosted a full South Leicester squad on the stadium pitch at Leicester Road. The sun was shining and the scene was set for a great morning of competitive junior rugby. South Leicester started well and the two teams were competitively matched until half time. The second half was the big difference between the two teams and Hinckley romped try after try past a weary South Leicester defence. The final whistle blew and Hinckley were triumphant winners 53 – 12.
