DESPITE the extra water and flooded pegs the top three all weighed over 80lbs in Lychgate Fisheries Wednesday Open match.

Leading the way yet again was Paul Bates who pole fished worm to land a winning 86lb 6oz catch from peg 41. Glyn Davies finished second with a 85lb 12oz catch taken on pole fished pellet from peg 49 while Paul twigger came third with 82lb 10ozs from peg 55.

Maynes Lakes was also carrying extra water and organisers struggled to use pegs that werent flooded! despite this Karl Downing caught from the start, fishing over to the island and from the deeper water down the middle to finish with the days best catch of 40lb 13ozs. Result; Pool One, Winner; John Baughan 25lb 4ozs peg 10. Pool Two Winner; Karl Downing peg 28.

Lutterwort­h Angling Club made the short journey to Ashby Magna’s Holly Farm to fish Trotters Lake. Leading the way was top float maker Mick Bassett who landed 32lb 4ozs of “silver” fish and 49lb 12ozs of carp for a winning 82lb catch. Steve Spencer fished the feeder to take second place with 68lb 12ozs while Ian Stripp came third with 56lb.

The latest round of the Pete Hogg Memorial series was fished along the Globe length at Snarestone. Phil Hicks landed a big perch and a decent bream which together with some small fish weighed 4lb 3ozs. Geoff Taylor weighed 2lb 12ozs of small bream to finish second with Alan Dixon came third with a 2lb 1oz catch.

Andy Findlay fished a long pole on peg 21 to win Saturday’s Higham Lane Open in style with a 164lb 9oz catch. Ian Knowles came second, along way behind with 78lb 6ozs. Chris Waite finished third, again, with 56lb 11ozs.

Shackersto­ne’s Member’s Waring Cup match was pegged along Hags Lane where David Gill landed 3lb 6ozs of small bream to win. Kev Cooper finished second with 2lb 15ozs of small roach and rudd. Ronnie Hodgson finished third with 2lb 10ozs.

It was hard going in Lychgate Fisheries Saturday open match as the inform Paul Bates took the honours again. Paul pole fished worm on peg 11 to land five carp and a roach to weigh 34lb 13ozs. Paul twigger finished second with a 23lb catch from peg 1.

Thursday’s Higham Lane Open was won by Paul Smith with a 59lb catch taken on pole fished pellet from peg 22. Dave Ale used method feeder tactics on peg 12 to finish second with 56lb 10ozs. Chris Waite finished third with 54lb.

Catches improved in Sundays Lychgate Fisheries Open, after Saturdays hard match, fish did come on to the feed with Rob Hollis recording a rare Lychgate win with a 67lb 2oz catch. Mick Harvey came second with 58lb 14ozs while Paul Twigger finished third with 58lb.

Higham Lane Fishery have an Open match every Thursday, draw 9am.

The second round of Lychgate Fisheries Autumn League takes place this Saturday, draw 9.15am.

The Final Round of the Pete Hogg Memorial series takes place this Saturday, Draw 12.30pm at the Globe Inn Snarestone.

The first round of Shackersto­ne’s Members Winter League series takes place this Sunday. Draw 7.45am at the Rising Sun.

Brookfield have an Open match this Sunday at Stoke Golding. Draw 9am.

Maynes Lakes have an Open match every Wednesday, draw 10am.
