Hit and Hope take a strong grip on league two

-

HIT and Hope A continue to lead Division 2 of the Table Tennis league turning in another significant display in defeating G Ward E by 7 sets to 3. The score-line does not give the fully story however as this was a very close match with no fewer than seven sets going to either four or five games.

Bryan Moylan (H&HA) won his three sets but was under some pressure from both Matt Wynne and Jack Dennis (both GWE) each of them claiming a game from him. Dennis defeated John Harrison (H&HA) in four games and then had a great win over Ian Nixon (H&HA) winning 11-9 in the fifth. Alana Richardson (GWE) also claiming victory over Harrison. The Leicester road side were always in control however and when Moylan and Nixon took the doubles 11-8 in the fourth victory was assured.

In their next match G ward E had a convincing win over their own F team Jack Dennis claiming man of the match with a good performance. Pete Lee (GWF) was unlucky taking both Matt Wynne and Richardson to five games before losing 14-12 to Richardson and 13-11 to Wynne.

G Ward C continue to push for top spot, firstly beating Hit and Hope B by 6 sets to 4. Roger Hill (GWC) collecting three fine wins whilst Rob Seddols and Steve Lawton (both H&HB) took two good wins each for their side. Hill again starred when GWC defeated G Ward G by 7 sets to 3. James Walker (GWG) claiming two wins over Luke Haskins (GWC) and Liam Davies (GWC).

Cat G had two good wind in their recent fixtures defeating both Market Bosworth teams. They won by 6 sets to 4 against Mkt Bos A, with top player Eiz Eddin al Katrib taking his three but not before a very close set with Dave Knappett (MBA) finally taking the set 12-10 in the fifth. He was well supported by Kevin Edwards (Cat G) who also won his three but was pushed all the way in all of his games. In their next fixture they found Market Bosworth B an easier match claiming victory by 20 sets to nil, Ben Bennett (Cat G) claiming man of the match.

Market Bos B fared little better in their next match going down by 20 sets to nil versus Cat F for whom Jeffrey Oddy was the outstanding player.
