Houses on old derelict site to go on sale soon
Luxury homes are being built on former care home site
AN estate of 19 luxury homes being built on the site of an arson-hit care home in Wellsborough, near Market Bosworth, are to go on sale next year.
Plans were approved earlier this year for the group of three, four and five bedroom homes under construction where the Hornsey Rise Memorial Home stood derelict for many years.
The Bosworth Road retirement home was built in 1921. After closing down it became a target for arsonists, vandals and fly-tippers, turning it to an eyesore.
The fresh complex will include 18 newly built homes while a chapel is to be converted into a three-bedroom dwelling.
A new wider entrance and a private access road will be constructed for the development.

Homes, said: “We have already received a lot of interest in the development because it is in such an enviable position in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside.
“We’re expecting a lot more interest now that we have been given the green light to start building by the council and the houses begin to go up.”
The Hornsey Rise name has been chosen to pay homage to the history of the 3.2 hectare site as it was originally the setting for the Hornsey Rise Care Home for retired printers.
A vandalised and desecrated war memorial, erected in memory of 380 printers who died in the First World War, will also be restored and re-sited in a new peace garden alongside
