Two good causes benefit from society cash

Earl Shilton in Bloom and cancer charity to benefit from cash

-

EARL Shilton Building Society has announced how funds from its community token scheme will be divided between two good causes.

Visitors to either the group’s head office in Earl Shilton or its Barwell branch were asked to choose which of the two charities they would most like to see receive funding by placing a token in a box.

A total of £272.80 will go to Marie Curie – Leicestershire and Rutland, while the remaining £227.20 will be handed to Earl Shilton in Bloom.

Claire Korsakovs, community fundraiser at Marie Curie, said: “We are so very grateful for the support of the community local to ESBS.

“Last year, the Marie Curie’s nursing service in Leicestershire and Rutland cared for over 157 patients during the night, providing expert care and support to people living with any terminal illness, as well as their loved ones, and helping them to make the most of the precious time they have together.”

Earl Shilton in Bloom launched in 2014 and is made up of some 20 volunteers who work to preserve the natural habitats of the town by providing floral displays and landscaped places.

A spokesperson for the gardening group said: “We would like to thank ESBS and their customers for the support they have shown us through the In the Community scheme.

“Without this sort of support, Earl Shilton in Bloom could not continue, so this collection is extremely important. “Thank you once again.” Paul Tilley, Chief Executive of ESBS, said: “It’s fantastic to see the number of tokens placed in the collectors over the past quarter.

“We would like to thank everyone for their help in making this community project a success.”
