A GIN distillery in Hinckley has held its civic opening after a hugely successful first two months in business.

Bond Street Distillery was officially launched by the mayor of the borough, councillor Lynda Hodgkins, after the business already sold over 700 bottles of its own gin since opening in December.

Attendees were taken on a tour of the venue as part of the event, which is based in a three-floor red brick former hosiery factory.

It includes a bar area on the ground floor, The Bond Street Social, where you can view the 700 litre copper still through a large window, a gin school and a top floor function room known as the

Crow’s Nest, own bar.

Owner Sally Faulkner spoke in her speech about the venture’s success so far, and the collaborations they have made with other businesses in the town.

Charlotte Cottrill, of Applebees Catering, who has provided food for several events at the venue, attended the opening. which has its

Featured in the ground floor bar are self-service wine dispensers, where you can use a top-up card to sample different wines before choosing if you want a whole glass or a bottle.

Ms Faulkner said previously: “I wanted to bring something new to Hinckley, dazzle them and give the local community something to talk about and be proud about.

“So many people have told me how exciting it is to have a new industry, somewhere different to go and most of all something that will grow and develop and be synonymous with Hinckley.”
