Homes are named after author and critic from the town
Elizabeth Coxhead Gardens is being built on Coventry Road
MCCARTHY and Stone has revealed its new development, on Coventry Road in Hinckley, has been named Elizabeth Coxhead Gardens.
The development is named after Elizabeth Coxhead, a distinguished author and critic, who was born in Hinckley in 1909 and was one of the first female students from Hinckley
Grammar School Oxford University.
Elizabeth’s second published novel The Midlanders is a tale of her youth in the 1920s and is set in Alney, a fictional name for her home town of Hinckley.
Once complete, Elizabeth Coxhead Gardens will comprise a collection of 16 one and two-bedroom Lifestyle Living to attend bungalows, exclusively those aged 55 and over.
Bungalows will be available to buy off-plan in May and first occupants are expected in October.
Samantha Watkins, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone, said: “We wanted to choose a name for our new Hinckley development for that is not only meaningful, but also resonates with local people and future McCarthy and Stone homeowners.
“Our chosen name, Elizabeth Coxhead Gardens, recognises and celebrates the Hinckley born author’s work and achievements throughout her life.”
The forthcoming McCarthy and Stone development is aimed at those who want to live their retirement years to the full in a low maintenance bungalow and it is ideal for those who want to ‘lock-up and leave’.
Offering total peace of mind, the Management Scheme at Elizabeth Coxhead Gardens includes a comprehensive security system – with camera entry and security lighting – along with maintenance of the landscaped gardens and exterior of the bungalows.
