RECRUITMENT drives have been launched by Leicestershire County Council and Leicester’s Hospitals.

Both bodies have called for people to join their ranks as they continue to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.

Leicester’s Hospitals have a variety of temporary roles within the estates and facilities department that they want to fill.

Specifically, the trust is after porters, catering assistants and domestic assistants to help on its wards.

Job adverts state that previous experience would be beneficial but not essential as full training is provided.

Leicestershire County Council’s Inspired to Care team has launched a campaign to recruit people in a variety of adult social care roles, in particular supporting people discharged from hospital back into the community, helping to free up beds in hospitals.

As well as recruiting for roles within the council, Inspired to Care will be helping home care providers recruit staff so they are free to carry on providing vital services to the vulnerable and those in isolation.

Councillor Richard Blunt, cabinet member for adults social care, said: “This is a challenging situation and we are doing everything we can to keep critical services going, particularly those supporting vulnerable people.

“Home care support has never been so important and the roles on offer will give Leicestershire residents the opportunity to make a difference in their local communities, support the most vulnerable to stay safe and well at home, and earn money whilst carrying out a rewarding role.”

There are long-term and temporary positions available for anyone who is interested.

The council is also keen to recruit people who are previous home care professionals, people who are out of work or have reduced hours, selfemployed people and students and graduates.

No experience is necessary. The council will be carrying out free DBS checks and providing basic training to ensure applicants can begin work as soon as possible to help residents as quickly as possible.
