Murdered man’s dad still hoping for justice

-

AS part of the National Heritage Weekends, Hinckley and District Museum and Hinckley District Past and Present have produced a 19-minute video called Welcome to Historic Hinckley.

The film starts by going all the way back to the Ice Age and tells the story of how the first settlers came to Hinks Lea.

The story progresses to the story of Hinckley Castle and St Mary’s Church before featuring local town personalities such as Joseph Hansom of Hansom Cab fame, pioneering Doctor Robert Chessher and Brewer William Bass.

A spokesperson continued: “Then there’s those that lived close to town like Ada Lovelace from Kirby Mallory and George Fox from Fenny Drayton.

“Eventually the film moves into present day Hinckley and the changes that have taken place in more recent times.”

It was written by Greg Drozdz of Hinckley and District Museum. It was then been created and produced by Paul Gardner of Hinckley District Past and Present (HDPP).

The heritage event is on from Friday, September 11 to Sunday, September 20.

Both Greg and Paul have shared a lifelong interest in the heritage of the town.

Greg said that it was a great idea for the museum and HDPP to combine their resources to produce this film in time for the heritage weekends.

With the help of his wife Sue,

Paul Gardner of HDPP also supplies pictures to The Hinckley Times most weeks.

He said: “The project was a steep learning curve that turned out well. The film is informative and very interesting. I hope that there will be further collaborations in the future with the museum.

“Sadly most places that normally open their doors locally will not be doing so this year because of Covid-19. But hopefully things will be better for next year’s events.”

The film will be available from Thursday, September 10 on the HDPP website, www. hdpp.co.uk.

You will also be able to find it on HDPP’s Youtube channel. Simply search for Hinckley District Past and Present.
