A QUESTION OF FAITH

- PASTORS TONY AND SARAH YUMUL Shield of Faith Church

AS this article is being written, the lockdown is easing all the more, and I think it is appropriate to look back.

Throughout these unprecedented times, we have believed and firmly stood strong on this statement: “We may have been locked down but we were never shut down.”

This has kept us going through it all, though each glimpse of churches being able to reopen often met another lockdown restriction, we never let this hinder the calling of God over our lives to preach the gospel to the lost, to “Go, and make disciples of all nations” - Matthew 28:19-20. Certainly, Jesus was with us, in everything. It’s only by His grace, that this lockdown didn’t empty our church, but multiplied it. God’s word came to pass... “But though evil was meant against me; God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people” - Genesis 50:20.

From what the enemy meant for evil, God produced good. We didn’t allow our limitations to limit us, the name of our God could not be silenced! Instead, with the work of all of our ministries, we adapted to the “new normal”.

We held our Sunday School (11am) online, using platforms such as Zoom, Skype and Messenger. Our media team and worship team worked together to bring the Sunday Service (2.30pm) to the comfort of our congregation and all people’s homes through Facebook Live-Streaming. We even continued our weekly Prayer Night on Friday evenings (6pm) through live streaming too. This gives people an avenue to lift their struggles and fears to the Lord in prayer. For we knew that, especially in these times, the enemy would attack harder than ever. “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” - Peter 5:7. Via the internet we reached people all over the world. How deep, how far and how wide is the love of our God! Though it was strange at first, abnormal and difficult, God’s grace brought us through every trial and tribulation, that we may emerge as His dearly loved children and victorious. So now, we are planning to finally reopen at The Meeting Centre and though livestreaming was lovely, we miss our home! Our live streams will still continue, we will continue to stay in contact with all who were touched by God. We invite you to join our live streams or if you are in the area, join our services when we re-open.
