Slow progress on 2,000 new homes near Hinckley
Councillor claims delay is due to no developer being on board
A HUGE masterplan for 2,000 homes, a new secondary school and health centre just a short distance from Hinckley continue to stall.
It has been almost three years since Warwickshire County Council first unveiled its blueprint for Top Farm which is just off the A5.
At the time, Shire Hall submitted a planning application to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, but it still has not been officially debated by planning members.
Back in November 2019, it was revealed the plans had stalled - and they have not developed any more since.
Councillor Keith Kondakor claims the delay is due to the fact that a developer is not yet on board.
The News contacted about the situation.
A spokesperson for Warwickshire County Council said: “NBBC and WCC have been working closely together over the preceding months to consolidate the information required to process the planning application for the Top Farm site.
“Both parties will continue to do so, until the regulatory planning process is completed.”
The original application boasts a mixture of 2,000 homes, what has been described as a ‘mixed use district centre’ to include space for retail, a community/and or a health centre, a primary school plus land put aside for a secondary school and

Shire
Hall sixth form, three new vehicular accesses off Higham Lane and a new children’s play area.
The land, which is adjacent to the north edge of Nuneaton, will also host a secondary school, which several academy trusts including one created by Higham Lane School want to run.
There are also proposals for the school to boast an activity hub.
It would be a combined leisure and school facility on one site, the proposed secondary school at Top Farm, providing an ‘active’ community hub that will be open to the public during the day, evening and weekends.
The sporting facility would include: minimum six-court sports hall, dance studio, fitness suite, 3G floodlit pitch and grass pitches and shared infrastructure including a car park, multipurpose areas, outdoor areas, community access and egress, emergency access, links to nearby housing and cycle parking.
NHS Warwickshire North Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) bosses are also considering using the Top
Farm site to house a much-needed new GP surgery to serve the growing community across Weddington.
Initially, health bosses had planned to use a site on Weddington Road but then the CCG said it was also considering locating the GP surgery at Top Farm.
The final decision on the location is due to be made this month.
