Society lends support to Armed Forces
AS the country commemorates the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, Hinckley & Rugby Building Society has given thanks to Armed Forces Personnel who risk their lives serving our country, while spending time away from their loved ones.
To show gratitude towards Serving Personnel and their families, the local building society has become a signatory for the Armed Forces Covenant.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a commitment, from the nation, that Armed Forces Personnel will be treated fairly and should face no disadvantages compared to any other citizen, with the exception of special treatment which may be appropriate for the injured or bereaved.
A spokesperson said: “By signing the Covenant, Hinckley and Rugby pledges to uphold these key principles and emphasise that it is an Armed Forces-friendly organisation.
“The covenant provides a variety of support to the Armed Forces
Community, including financial assistance. At Hinckley and Rugby, this means that, if service personnel are placed overseas and decide to let their residential home, they will retain their residential mortgage product instead of being switched to a buy-to-let mortgage.”
The organisation acknowledges the value the Armed Forces Community brings to businesses and the country, and also supports:
The employment of veterans, ensuring they are treated fairly in the recruitment processes
National events such as Armed Forces Day, Reserves Day, the Poppy Appeal day and other remembrance activities
Armed Forces charities with fundraising and supporting volunteers
The spokesperson continued: “Hinckley and Rugby Building Society is pleased to be committed to supporting the Armed Forces Community and once again thanks them for their service.
