HOW YOU CAN HELP

- Jobs.nhs.uk/xi/search_vacancy

a call has gone out for people who could help roll out leicestershire’s coronavirus vaccination programme.

in the coming weeks, the nHS and the government will be trying to ramp up the number of jabs administered.

there is now an effort to recruit both volunteers and paid staff to help deliver jabs to those in priority groups. Voluntary action leicestershire (Val) is looking for greeters, stewards and chaperones for patients who are arriving to receive their vaccinations.

nHS staff will remain responsible for the administration of doses.

a Val spokesman said: “the key aim of this role is to support a smooth and safe process for vaccinations to take place.

“Volunteers will be given specific tasks when they are on site.”

the spokesman said Val has 330 volunteers but wants more to come on board.

executive manager Kevin allenKhimani said: “as we move towards the next stage of fighting coronavirus with the roll-out of vaccinations, these volunteers will play an integral role. as we all know, there’s an indefinite timescale to this, so we will be truly grateful for anyone who is able to put themselves forward to help across the coming weeks and months.

“there will be strict procedures and policies in place to ensure volunteers are as safe as possible, and we would love to hear from anyone who is able to give their time.”
