Hazardous waste material left by the side of the road
HAZARDOUS waste has been dumped by fly-tippers in a large mess left by a main road in Barwell.
The large fly-tip included a sizeable amount of building waste and asbestos, which is harmful to people, the environment and wildlife, and was found on Kirkby Road.
Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council posted on Facebook about the incident to appeal for information, saying that the incident was thought to have taken place at around 5pm on Thursday, January 14.
Household waste was also dumped by the fly-tippers, with several Budweiser beer bottles among the mess, as well as cardboard packaging, aerosol cans, plastic tubs and buckets.
The council said: “We would suspect that this has been fly-tipped by a tradesperson who has probably completed work for someone possibly local to this area.
“Do you recognise any of the items, there is a headboard from a bed which looks like it is very unique? Roll of grey wallpaper or have you had a floor laid with tiles purchased from Wickes – Olympia Light Grey Stone? If you can help us trace the culprit please get in touch.”
Officers are considering installing CCTV as the area is a hot spot for flytipping.

In late December, a large fly-tip thought to include rubbish from someone’s Christmas celebrations was dumped by the side of the A447, near Cadeby.
The mess included toy boxes, bags of rubbish, clothes and a Roses chocolates tub, found in a layby near a petrol station.
A resident of Earl Shilton said previously that there is a layby to the north of the town, on a short oneway lane that connects Leicester Road to Shilton Road, where there is constant fly-tipping, with people regularly dumping industrial waste, paint pots and bags of rubbish. The borough council said that there is a rubbish bin on the lane and sometimes a litter picker who operates in the area leaves a bag of rubbish there for collection.
