Exciting year ahead at Earl Shilton Town CC...

- By PETE WARRINGTON Sports Editor

EARL Shilton Town CC is marking its 100th year at Keats Lane with a range of moves designed to take the club forward in 2021.

The club’s two senior sides will both feature in two cup competitions in addition to their league commitments, the club will launch its own website in a matter of weeks and events are in the pipeline, Covidpermitting, to mark the club’s move to Keats Lane in 1921.

Chairman Mick Coe said “Pete Shaw Director of Cricket, Sam Smart 1st XI Captain and Ben Sutton 2nd XI Captain, are working hard on next season’s plans for not only player recruitment but also new and exciting practice strategies that they will share with the players in due course.

“They will also arrange indoor nets as soon as covid rules allow it.

“We hope that all our players will stay with our club in 2021 and continue on the exciting journey of improvement planned at the club over the next few years.

“We have signed up with the League as normal for the first and second teams, but this year have also entered four cup competitions, two for each side.

“The 1st XI will play in the County Cup and T20 Bowl, while the 2nd XI will enter the Challenge Cup and T20 Shield.

“These are great opportunities for our sides to win something and drive the club forward.

“Kyle Chamberlain our Academy Co-ordinator is working hard on planning training sessions and working with Tom Flowers Cricket Coaching to generate interest in local schools for boys and girls to join our Academy.

“Kyle and Pete have recently ordered new training equipment for both Academy and Senior players in additional to new playing kit for hardball cricket. All this is in support of the future Senior and Academy training strategy for the future.

“Our very own website, rather than a standard cricket website, will be launched in the next couple of weeks. Harry Longdon is doing a brilliant job in bringing it together and when launched will certainly be something we can be proud of and I am sure will impress others.

“The Directors and Committee are meeting monthly via Zoom meetings to ensure that Earl Shilton Town Cricket Club is ready for next season and the future, and I look forward to celebrating our 100 years of playing cricket at Keats Lane in 2021.”
