Social Democratic party renewal
The Social Democratic Party was revived in 2018 with the publication of its New Declaration. Along with its new leader, William Clouston, notable journalists sought to provide a real alternative to the stagnant politics of the big three.
The SDP is fully in favour of a thriving public sector, particularly in health and infrastructure: especially railways. It sees the market best suited for consumer goods. The banking system in the UK clearly needs reform to ensure public savings are invested in the UK as in Germany and Japan.
Complementing this progressive approach to economics, the party takes a more socially conservative view on such things as identity politics and seriously questions the assumptions made by these US imported ideologies. They simply don’t fit British society.
We are also very concerned about the increasing censorship taking place in our society where whole areas of debate are being closed down.
As William Clouston says: “Many people realise that there is something missing on the political landscape - a party that is patriotic, respectful of our traditions but left leaning on economics. The SDP is growing to fill that gap.”
The SDP will be standing two candidates in Hinckley in May. It can be contacted via sdp.org.uk.
