Division Two title delight for Market Bosworth

-

THE final round of fixtures in Division Two of the Table Tennis League saw Market Bosworth A comprehensively walk away with the title, racking up an impressive 117 points , 32 pts clear of second placed X-Cat 3.

Bosworth saw off Goons 2 by 8 sets to 2, their fixture with X-Cat 3 provided them with a similar score line and in their final fixture they travelled to Barwell to take on G Ward C and again came away with 8 sets to 2 victory. John Veasey (MBA) won his three but there was a surprise defeat for Harry Thomas who found Rob Webster just too worldly wise losing out by 9pts to 11 in the fourth. Webster also took Veasey to four games losing 9-11 in the fourth and in a five-set game with Shaun Garratt (MBA) he lost out by 6-11pts in that fifth game.

X-Cat 3 beat G Ward C by 9 sets to 1 , then lost to Market Bosworth A and in their final match managed a 5 all draw with X-Cat 4 to finish clear second in the table.

X-Cat 4 defeated Mkt Bosworth B by 7 sets to 3 and then beat Goons 2 by 6 sets to 4. A mention for Stuart Caleb Courtonel (X-Cat 4) who despite losing most of his games this season, came back in his last two matches to collect two wins. You know what they say Stuart you wait all day and then two come along together. Well done.

Hit and Hope B had two good wins defeating both G Ward D by 9 sets to 1 and G Ward C by 8 sets to 2. They came unstuck in their final match however when they met bottom of the table Mkt Bosworth B who turned in one of their best performances of the season to snatch a win by the narrowest of margins 6 sets to 4. Again must mention young Lucy Nash (MBB) she has struggled all season to win many games but collected two good wins to help her side to victory.

The final table saw Market Bosworth win the Division with 117 pts, second place went to X-Cat 3 on 85 pts and joint third were X-Cat 4 and Goons 2 both on 76 pts.

The focus now turns towards the handicap competition mini-series, plus all the cup and individual championships over the next few weeks. The mini-series commencing next week.
