Celebrity gardener spotted in town ahead of summer return

-

PEOPLE in Hinckley had a double take when they spotted celebrity gardener Alan Titchmarsh and his team in the town last week.

On Wednesday morning the Love Your Garden host was seen leaving a taxi, while his camera crew followed, after parking their vans up either side of Merevale Close.

After this, Alan, pictured above, and his crews walked up and down Merevale Avenue recording a piece to camera.

Production company Spun Gold sent out a letter which was posted through letterboxes, stating why the famous gardener is filming in the area.

The letter explained that a Hinckley resident is to feature on Titchmarsh’s hit show – and that their garden will be given a makeover over four days in the summer.

According to The Hinckley Free Press, the letter said: “This is a notification to let you know that a resident at Northfield Road has been selected for the ITV television programme Love Your Garden with Alan Titchmarsh.

“The garden makeover dates are from Sunday, July 10 to Wednesday, July 13. During this period, there will be disruption in the area with deliveries.

“The build involves renovating the garden behind the house while it is being filmed by a small crew.

“We will be doing our best to keep the impact on the street side to a minimum.

“Please be reassured that we take the Covid-19 pandemic very seriously and we will be adhering to the current protocols at all times.”

On the show, Alan travels around the country and seeks out some of Britain’s loveliest domestic gardens and wonderful outdoor living spaces which have been created by avid gardeners.
