Plans for 110 homes on fields outside village

-

A SCHEME has been filed for 110 homes on fields outside Barwell.

Harrow Estates is proposing to develop 28 acres of greenfield land between The Common and the Dawsons Lane allotments, to the north of the A47.

The estate would include 22 affordable homes, with a new vehicle entrance to be created off The Common.

The complex would include 220 parking spaces. Elan Homes recently filed plans to build 92 homes to the north of the village, off Kirkby Road, after reducing the size of the scheme in light of feedback from residents.

The estate would include 19 two-bedroom homes, 37 three-bedroom properties and 18 fourbedroom homes.

The company previously consulted with locals about an initial plan for 133 homes on the site, with villagers raising concerns about overdevelopment and the traffic impact on Kirkby Road, which is a main route into the village.

Plans have also been filed for the nearby Earl Shilton SUE (Sustainable Urban Extension), to the north of the A47, which would include 1,500 homes, a new primary school and 13 acres of employment space.

Vehicles would access the site via two new roundabouts on the A47, as well as from Mill Lane, Breach Lane and Astley Road.

There is also a proposed Barwell SUE, which is set to add 2,500 news homes to the north and west of the village.

Plans were approved almost 10 years ago for the scheme, but ground works have yet to begin on the project.

Residents can send in their comments on the 110 homes scheme, to Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, via the council’s website, until March 23.
