Visitors will be treated to Guinness world record holders on Penny Farthings, horse and carriage rides, performances from street actors, heraldry workshops, encampments and a fun fair.

Desford residents will be getting involved, decorating their homes in the different time zones and enjoying all the festival has to offer.

Community groups sych as the 22 stitchers putting together the Desford tapestry, the village’s pubs, schools and churches, as well as Caterpillar, are all involved. Desford Colliery Band will be performing at the Old Rectory.

Jennie Hollier, from Lupella Digital Media, the graphic designer for the heritage festival, and one of its volunteer organisers said: “The new heritage trail boards are an important addition to our village in terms of sharing local history. While promoting this event there have been so many people coming forward and excited to share stories of their own.

“These past 18 months being part of the 15 strong volunteer team organising the festival have been so rewarding.”

To ensure everyone can enjoy what’s on offer, there is parking

available at Bosworth Academy and Caterpillar. Free hop on, hop off shuttle buses will run from Caterpillar, through the centre of the village, to The Lancaster Arms and back.

Admission is via a festival programme, available from Desford library (cash only) in the run up to the festival and then from Caterpillar, Bosworth Academy and the

Church Centre (cash and card) over the weekend. Toilets, picnic areas and a map is available, together with show times in the programme.
