Defeat for 1st XI but Earl Shilton 2nd XI win again

EARL Shilton Town 1st XI lost at home against Sileby Town 2nd XI after putting themselves in a good position to win the game.

After winning the toss and deciding to field, Earl Shilton put in an excellent bowling performanc­e to restrict Sileby to 126 all out off 41.1 overs.

Pick of the bowlers was Josh Robins with an excellent performanc­e of 5-41 off 11, supported by Phil Crouch 2-22 off 12 and James Millinship 2-34 off 12.

Earl Shilton knew they were in a good position to win the game and tried hard to finish the job, but after losing some key wickets finally fell short finishing on 120 all out off 36.3.

Pick of the batters were Rishabh Parekh 45, supported towards the final overs in the chase by Evan Donaldson 11, captain Sam Smart 13, James Millinship 12 and Josh Robins 10.

Captain Sam Smart said: “It was really disappoint­ing to lose today, but great to see the team put in the effort to get in sight of the win. We have had similar games this season where we have fell just short and I know the team are training hard each week to improve our results “

Earl Shilton Town 2nd XI put in another fine performanc­e to win for the third week running, led by consistent performing Captain Ethan Hawkins.

Playing away at Shepshed 3rd XI they lost the toss and were asked to field.

Following excellent performanc­es by Ethan Hawkins 5-21 off 10 and Hemil Patel 4 -11 off 7, Shepshed were bowled all out for 181 all out off 39.2 overs with young Ryan Patel chipping in with 1-23 off three overs. Earl Shilton proceeded to complete a fine all round performanc­e reaching the target to finish on 182-3 off 29.3, with Ethan Hawkins 76, Ben Sutton 22, Zak Potter 16 not out and Hemil Patel 25 not out.

Captain Ethan Hawkins said after the game: “After losing the toss we really put in a great team performanc­e today to continue our winning run. We need to stay focused and continue to improve every week and it was great to see the effort put in by everyone today.”
