Barwell lose their unbeaten record in Division Two

DIVISION One in the Nuneaton Thursday League saw a local derby between Bulkington and Bedworth. The visitors batted first and racked up an impressive 168/6. Manbir Johal with 43 and Jamie Parnell, 48 were the main contributo­rs while Sam Gisbourne was the pick of the home side bowlers with 3-25.

Bulkington were always struggling to keep up with the rate and ended up well short on 91-8. Faizan Abdullah with 3-7 did the most damage.

Fillongley continued their impressive form on the road at Hinckley Amateurs. Batting first they amassed an impressive 170-2. Stephen Copson, 75no and Aaron Blackmore, 46no starring with the bat. Despite 38 from Anoop Jayaraj the home side were up against it and finished 47 short on 123/4. Nuneaton came out in another local derby at home to Ambleside. The visitors batted first and were restricted to 104 all out. Josh Biskas claimed three of the wickets while Tom Neale and Jacob Milnes chipped in with two each.

In reply Giles Clements anchored the innings carrying his bat for 26no and 38 from Martin Cox and 20no from Jordan Gilkes got the home side over the line with 11 balls to spare for the loss of only 2 wickets.

In Division 2 there was a shock as Griff and Coton beat unbeaten league leaders Barwell at Heath End Road. The free scoring visitors were restricted to just 99-6 from their 18 overs. Danny Moran and Guy Norris both chipped in with 30’s. In reply Jai Singh batted through for 40no and 26 from Rob Hall made sure the home side clocked up their first win of the season. Stockingfo­rdHaunchwo­od came out on top in a close game at home to Nuneaton 2’s. The visitors were pegged back by tight bowling, particular­ly from Liam Evans with 3-15.

A late flourish from Sam Flude edged Nuneaton up to 86-8. Nuneaton’s bowlers also kept things tight but Rob Harris carried his bat for 30 and they reached the target with 4 balls to spare and 7 wicket in hand.

Barwell 2’s had an impressive win in Divison 3 at home to Hinckley Amateurs 2’s. George Baker smashed 82 off 49 balls and was supported by Eddie Cross with 33 as they ended up on 152-4. The visitors were never up with the target and ended up well short on 83-6.

Ambleside 2’s remain winless after falling to defeat at Twycross. Ben Machin and Jake Allman both took 3 wickets as they restricted the visitors to 82-9. The target proved competitiv­e as the home side lost regular wickets but 21no from Ben Machin secured the win with one ball and two wickets to spare.
