Earl Shilton Town ready for centenary celebration

-

EARL SHILTON Town Cricket Club will be hosting its Presidents DayKeats Lane Centenary Celebration on Sunday (July 3) and chairman Mick Coe has invited an invitation for the community to pop down and enjoy the day of activites and attractions on offer.

“We are proud of our history and being in existence since 1815, and are forever grateful to our Directors who in 1921 purchased our own ground here at Keats Lane.

“We have a fantastic day planned out and keep our fingers crossed that the weather will be favourable for us and we are very grateful to our special guests who will joining us.

“We will also be celebrating 50 years of Junior cricket at our club on the day. Our Juniors renamed in 2019 as ESTCC Academy started in 1972 and we hope that along with myself and our President who played in those first seasons, that other ex Junior players over those 50 years can make it on the day to celebrate with us.

“We have organised over 15 stalls of various types around the ground, aswell as an outdoor bar, hot food stands, Ice Cream Van and we are arranging areas around the ground to show off our relationships with our Sponsors, Town Council and the Community as a whole.

“We would like the whole ground to be buzzing on the day with something happening at all times from games, to coaching young ones and generally celebrating our historical day. Bring a chair along and stay all day if you can, but if not please try to drop in for as long as you can.

“We are hoping to raise as much money as possible for the NHS on the day and will be looking at taking a bucket round and also arranging a raffle.

“We feel our plans for the celebration day will honour the fantastic work that so many people have done

for our club over its more than 200 year history, both playing and non playing members and also as a thanks to all those businesses and individuals locally who have contributed to our success. We are still here and intend to be here for the next 200 years!”
