BURBAGE Crusaders Bowling Club is issuing an invite to the community to try the sport at a special open day next month. Here the Crusaders’ Adrian Bennett spells out the benefits of the game for your mental and physical help and what is available at the club for would-be players interested in giving the game a go ....

BOWLS really is the ‘sport for all.’

It can be played by all ages, abilities and sexes, making it the perfect sport for all members of your family to enjoy together.

If you are interested Burbage Crusaders Bowling Club would like to invite you to come and meet the members, we really are a friendly crowd and whilst everyone likes to win we consider the primary objective to be to enjoy the game and each other’s company.

There are several options to meet the Crusaders and to get involved:

£2.50. This means that you are included in the social side of the club but are not covered to bowl. If you want to bowl in informal practices only (no matches or competitio­ns) you can do so at a cost of £4 per session.

but would like to play the occasional short game Bowls England have introduced ‘BowlsBash’ which is a shortened form of the game where a competitiv­e game can be completed in as little as one hour. This option is offered by the Crusaders for just £3 per session.

‘Bowl’Bash’ is a Bowls England brand and as such to book and pay for sessions you have to use the play-bowls.com website. The website will show you all the clubs and sessions available in your area as well as the charge at the various clubs. If you have any problems with the website speak to Ben Bennett who will do what he can to help.
