Canaries produce five star performance for home fans

- BARWELL 5 HEDNESFORD 1 Southern League Premier Central

A FIVE star performance on Saturday saw the Canaries continue their rise up the table as they dismanted strugglelr Hednesford Town at the UK Flooring Direct Stadium on Saturday.

The hosts made a great start taking the lead on four minutes, good work between Bushaj and Master saw a low cross find captain Brady Hickey who fired home.

Barwell thought they had doubled the lead on 10 minutes but the goal was controversially ruled offside - it didn’t deter the home side who press forward and on 20 minutes a poor backwards header allowed Beck-Ray Enoru to burst through on goal and smash the ball home and make it 2-0.

The visitors reduced the arrears on 39 minutes through Jordan Graham who headed home a free kick and that was the score at the interval.

After the break the Canaries went close to re-establishing a two goal lead before they finally made it 3-1 on 57 minutes when Davidson-Miller was tripped over by the keeper but the ball fell to Layton Ndukwu who tapped home into the empty net.

And two minutes later in was 4-0 courtesy of a wonder goal when Layton Ndukwu lobbed the keeper from the half way line.

On 77 minutes Barwell made it 5-0 when Jahvan Davidson-Miller slotted home from Master’s low cross.

The Canaries had a chance to make it six from the penalty spot, Hickey’s penalty hit the bar and he headed home the rebound but the goal was disallowed by the referee.

It didn’t dampen a fantastic performance enjoyed by a crowd of 323. Next up is a trip to Stratford Town on Saturday (April 1).
