LRFC fightback to net win over Boldmere

- HINCKLEY LRFC 2 BOLDMERE ST MICHAELS 1 Northern Premier League Midland Division

HINCKLEY LRFC came from a goal down to come out 2-1 winners against Boldmere St Michaels on Saturday at Leicester Road Stadium.

After going into the interval 1-0 down, two second half goals from Andre Williams and Jordan Burrows ensured Neil Lyne’s side sealed the three points against a strong Boldmere side fighting for promotion.

Hinckley were arguably the better side for the whole duration of the match creating numerous chances putting the visitors defence under pressure.

Ben Humphreys had a chance in the ninth minute when he rose highest from a Dom Brennan corner, heading narrowly over the bar.

In the 21st minute Boldmere took the lead after a moment of miscommunication between several Hinckley players allowed Owen Parry to run through and score.

In the second half Hinckley came out the traps flying as they pushed for an equaliser.

Just before the hour mark in the 58th minute, Hinckley did get their equaliser when some beautiful fluid play saw Liam Read play a cheeky ball over the back line to Brennan who then played a ball across goal where Burrows slid in to tap it home.

From then on it was all Hinckley and between two sides who were 14th and 4th respectively you’d have thought it was Hinckley fighting for the play offs.

Five minutes after the equaliser Hinckley had a golden opportunity to take the lead when a cross in from Williams found Joe Lyne at the back post forcing a great save out of Kieran Harrison in the Boldmere goal.

In the 73rd minute Hinckley deservedly got their goal to take the lead when a corner from Brennan found Danny Jenno at the back post who headed back across goal where Williams was there to smash it home.

In the closing stages the game turned quite scrappy as the visitors pushed to find a way back into the game, but Hinckley stood resolute and were able to see out the game and seal a vital three points.
