LRFC end successful season on a high note

HINCKLEY LRFC ended their season with a comfortabl­e 3-0 win at home to Sutton Coldfield, solidifyin­g themselves in 13th place in the league table.

Two early goals from Liam Read and Andre Williams, as well as a second half stoppage time goal from Ben Humphreys sealed the three points for Neil Lynes side in a perfect display to end the season.

Hinckley opened the scoring after 13 minutes, when a clearance from a Sutton Coldfield player hit one of his own players, falling kindly to Read on the penalty spot where he slotted beautifull­y into the bottom corner.

In the 18th minute, Hinckley almost doubled their lead when skipper Danny Jenno rose highest from a Dom Brennan corner, only being able to guide his header straight into the keeper’s hand.

Seconds later though Hinckley did double their lead when Lewis Jones slotted through Williams, where the striker took the ball wide before unleashing a powerful effort across goal and into the back of the net.

In the second half the chances dried up for both sides with both sides sharing large shares of possession without really threatenin­g.

However, in the 70th minute, Hinckley had a chance to increase their lead when Lewis Jones played a beautiful cross into the box where substitute Harry Smith rose highest, placing his header narrowly wide of the mark.

In stoppage time Hinckley deservedly got their third goal to seal all three points when Humphreys got on the end of a Brennan corner at the far post heading home to end the game emphatical­ly whilst also ending the season on a much deserved high.
