MANAGEMENT at a distillery have stepped up to sponsor the first official Pride celebration in a county town.

Bond Street Distillery in Hinckley is supporting the celebration of the local LGBTQ+ community, which will feature artists, tribute acts, drag queens and more when it takes place in Hollycroft Park on July 15.

Hinckley Pride, a not-for-profit community organisation, was set up to promote equality and diversity in the Hinckley and Bosworth borough, and the Pride day is being billed as an opportunity for people to gather in “activism, protest, celebration, and advocacy”.

Daniel Hope, the chairperson for Hinckley Pride, said: “The partnership with Bond Street Distillery isn’t just about this event, we wanted a partner that would grow with us, support what we were trying to achieve now and in years to come.

“The ideas and imagination brought to the table as well as financial support makes this such a worthwhile partnership.”

Bond Street Distillery runs a bar, gin school and gin distillery in the town.

Owner Sally Faulkner said: “We have worked so hard with Daniel and all of the board members at Hinckley Pride to ensure that this partnership supports all of the ideals of Hinckley Pride and ourselves here at Bond Street.

“My team are so excited to be part of something so important to our community and we have been planning some very special things together.

“We want to ensure that people know that Bond Street is a safe space for everyone in the community, and are encouraging our community to

be a part of the event. As an added bonus, working with the fantastic and creative team that is Hinckley Pride’s committee has filled us all here at Bond Street with pride.

“This July 15 event will feature a

‘Loud and Proud’ festival on the main stage, and a speaker’s corner providing talks about LGBTQ+ issues and a separate area.”

The day will start with a march leading into the festival at the park,

just outside the town centre, where there will also be bars and stalls, culminating in an after-party hosted by the distillery.
