We’d all be better off moving to Australia

-

The Labour Party believes that one way to save the NHS is to train more doctors, a policy that will be gratefully received by Australia.

In 2022, 6,970 UK doctors emigrated, 42 percent to Australia. Of course, doctors in Australia earn up to 50 per cent more than in the UK, but then the cost of living is much higher.

UK junior doctors earn 1.7 times the average wage, while in Australia it’s 1.8 times theirs.

Having travelled to Australia over 50 times and having close relatives who’ve emigrated to Australia to work in their healthcare system, I know it’s more than just pay that makes British doctors move there.

Step into any department in an Australian hospital and you will find up to 100 per cent of them are British, every one of them trained at the expense of the UK taxpayer.

Australia has a much better healthcare system than the UK even though they pay only 9.7 per cent of their GDP on it compared to 10.7 per cent here.

Unlike the UK, where Labour simply destroyed our existing healthcare to create the NHS, Australia took a much more pragmatic approach in creating their universal healthcare system, where everyone can receive free medical services using their “Medicare” system, while more than 50 per cent have private health insurance.

Unlike here, those who have private insurance can get it without declaring pre-existing conditions and they also get a tax rebate on their premiums. On every measure, Australia is a win-win not only for doctors but for all professionals.

My advice to all of you is to emigrate if you’re young enough. Only, before you go, kiss your granny and grandad goodbye because you probably will never see them again.
