Mixed fortunes for Hinckley Amateur

HINCKLEY Amateurs had a mixed day as the First team slump continued, but the 2nd and 3rd team recorded fine wins.

Billesdon were the visitors to Ashby Road, as the Amateurs got off to the worst start, being 14-3, Alan York and Ed Proctor with 20 each, tried to rebuild the innings, Paul Ensor top scored with an unbeaten 21, but they finished on a disappoint­ing 125 all out, in prefect conditions on a decent looking track, Sam Blackwell with 4-26 for the visitors.

Nathan Brown with two wickets, with one each for Andy Wainscott, James Axon, and Jamie Harris-Ensor as the bowlers stuck to the task well, but trying to defend such a low target wasn’t easy as they went down by five wickets.

In the local derby at Market Bosworth the Amateur 2nd string came out winners by just 16 runs, Siv Sakthivel on 43, good support from Taral Naik 41, youngsters Ben Smith 36, and Ryan Tyler-Evans 28,and a match winning last unbeaten partneship of 27 between veterans Matt Smith, and Mick Butterwort­h got the score to a competitiv­e 225-9. Sam Spence with 66 top scored for Bosworth, but three wickets for Waheed Jamill, and one each for Taral Naik, Matt Smith restricted the home side to 209-5 in a decent game of cricket.

Amateur 3rd string good form continues as the travelled to Cropston 3rds, an all round batting performanc­e with keeper Iain Kinnis making 50, everyone contribute­d, Gary Roach 29,Winnie Thompson 27,Dan Hall 23, Mike Coleman 17, Dan Cowley 10, and sum lusty hits from skipper Aaron Hicklin who finished on 26 not out with the Amateurs reaching 211-6 off their 40 overs, Sashi Kumar good run of form continues as he took 4-9, Kaiden Roach, Aaron Hicklin, and Chaminda Kudabalahe­le with 2 wickets each wrapped up innings to win by 93 runs
