Stephen Jelley back with Team Parker Racing

-

LEICESTERSHIRE driver Stephen Jelley is back in action with Team Parker Racing this season.

He returns to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB after eight years away from the series and describes his car as “a bullet”.

Jelley first joined Team Parker in 2010, after spending two years in the British Touring Car Championship.

During his four seasons in the Carrera Cup (in 20102011 and 2015-2016), he recorded seven victories and a further 24 podium finishes.

Returning to the BTCC with Team Parker Racing in 2017, he recorded the team’s maiden series victory on a memorable afternoon at Oulton Park in 2019, which was one of four wins he claimed during his nine years in touring cars.

Additionally, Jelley has raced in single seaters, climbing to GP2 Asia, and sports cars, including in the then-titled Blancpain Endurance Series, as well as the British GT Championship and International GT Open.

This time out he will tackle the Carrera Cup and latest 992-style Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car in 16 races over eight weekends, beginning at his and the team’s home circuit of Donington Park on April 27 and 28.

Jelley said: “It’s good to be back with a team I know and love to be part of.

“They have a habit of winning in Porsches, with a great setup, and have got things sussed.

“I am getting on well in the car as it suits my driving style down to a tee, partly because of the weight distribution.

“It’s a unique car to drive but fantastic as it has lots of power, massive Michelin tyres, and it’s a bullet.

“It’s a proper race car and Porsche does a fantastic job of turning them out, the support, and the hospitality, so it’s a great championship.

“I’m looking forward to this year more than any in recent memory and there’s a really good feeling in the team.”
