The war is concluded at Ryswick and includes major

French concession­s. Louis XIV officially recognises William III as king of England and relinquish­es his control over the Rhineland and Lorraine. He also restores Luxembourg, Mons, Courtrai and Barcelona to Spain, while the Dutch build fortresses in the Spanish Netherland­s as a barrier against France.
