TREATY OF RYSWICK

The war is concluded at Ryswick and includes major

French concessions. Louis XIV officially recognises William III as king of England and relinquishes his control over the Rhineland and Lorraine. He also restores Luxembourg, Mons, Courtrai and Barcelona to Spain, while the Dutch build fortresses in the Spanish Netherlands as a barrier against France.

The treaty that ended the War of the Grand Alliance was negotiated at the palace of Huis ter Nieuwburg in Ryswick, South Holland
