montgomery’s plans for operation overlord

General Bernard Montgomery, commander of the allied 21st army Group, wrote this handwritten plan for what would become the D-day landings on 11 february 1944. as the overall commander of all ground forces for operation overlord, Montgomery wrote the most important premise for the plan in the bottom right corner of the document: “the key note of everything to be SIMPLICITY”.
