The Soviets conduct a carefully planned withdrawal from Afghanista­n in two phases. They continue to supply the

DRA but the regime falls in 1992 and the country descends into civil war. The Soviet-afghan conflict is also a major contributi­ng factor in the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991.
